The Misericordia University baseball team used solid pitching and timely hitting to finish a series sweep of King's, 9-4, 7-3, Thursday afternoon at King's.

Misericordia took the opener, 9-4, thanks to a pair of big innings.

Andrew Tressa had two hits and drove in three runs while Joe Tagliarini had two hits and two RBI.  Kyle Lindsay added two hits to make a winner of Evan Robaczewski who scattered six hits over five innings while striking out four and allowing just one earned run.

Will Minderjahn struck out two over the final two innings.

After King's took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Cougars responded with four runs in their next at bat and put the game away with a five-run fourth inning rally.

In the top second, Julian Faria was hit by a pitch and advanced to third on Ryan Cacchioli's double to right field.  Tagliarini tied the score with a two-run double to left and moved to third on Mike Comerford's single to center.

Chris Boroch put the Cougars ahead with a sacrifice fly and Tressa doubled down the right field line to score Comerford with Lindsay thrown out at the plate to end the frame.

In the fourth, Tagliarini was hit by a pitch and Comerford walked before Boroch's fielder's choice bunt loaded the bases.
Lindsay singled to left to make it 5-2 and Tressa drove in two more runs with a double down the left field line.
Kenny Durling singled through the left side to score Lindsay and Tressa made it 9-2 when the ball was mishandled in the outfield.

In the nightcap, Mike Impellittiere had three hits and drove in two runs while Durling and Lindsay both added two hits.  Cacchioli drove in a pair of runs.

Pete Doggett scattered nine hits over five innings without allowing an earned run to earn the win and Justin Haddix closed it out with four strikeouts over the final two innings.

MU took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Lindsay singled and moved to second on Tressa's sacrifice bunt.  After Steve Sulcoski was hit by a pitch, Impellittiere singled through the right side to load the bases and Cacchioli followed with a two-run single through the same hole.

The Cougars made it 3-1 in the top of the third.  Tressa reached on an error and moved to second on Durling's single.  Tressa moved up on a wild pitch and came home on Impellittiere's single through the right side.

Misericordia added three runs in the fourth.  Paul Shepherd walked and moved to second on Tressa's single an out later.  Sulcoski drove them both in with a triple to centerfield.  Following a walk to Durling, Impellittiere made it 6-1 with an RBI-single through the middle.

King's scored twice in the bottom of the fifth, but the Cougars added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Tagliarini drew a one-out walk and moved to second on Sheperd's two-out single to left center.  Lindsay singled to right to score Tagliarini and give MU a 7-3 lead.

Misericordia completed its second consecutive Freedom Conference sweep to improve to 15-4 overall and 6-1 in the Freedom.

The Cougars will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a non-league game, Tuesday.
