Caitlin Cromley drove in seven runs to lead the Misericordia University softball team to a doubleheader sweep at Delaware Valley, Sunday.
The Cougars took the opener, 2-1, and won the nightcap, 11-3.
In the opener,
Jess Armillay tossed a four-hitter and
Caitlin Cromley had two hits and drove in both runs in a 2-1 win.
Megan Gowe had a hit and scored a run and
Megan Hardy added a hit for the Cougars.
MU took a 1-0 lead in the third and scored the game-winner in the seventh.
In the third,
Mallory Getts reached on a two-out error and moved to second on
Whitney Ellenberg's walk.
Cromley singled up the middle to score Getts and give the Cougars a 1-0.
The Aggies tied it in the fifth on a pair of singles and two stolen bases.
Gowe led off the seventh with a bunt single and moved to second on Getts' sacrifice bunt and came around on Cromley's single to center.
In game two, Cromley homered twice and drove in five runs and
Melissa Parker, Veneziale and Gowe all had two hits.
The Cougars broke open the nightcap with a nine-run fourth inning thanks to a grand slam by Cromley.
Cromley led off with a single through the left side and advanced to third when
Kristi Seiler reached on an error.
Megan Hardy singled to make it 1-0 and
Kat LaBrie's two-run double to center to give the Cougars a 3-0 lead.
Melissa Parker reached on an error and
Andi Veneziale beat out a bunt before Gowe singled to right to drive in another run.
Whitney Ellenberg's single through the left side to make it 5-0 and one out later, Cromley cleared the bases with a blast to center field.
Cromley added a solo homer in the sixth inning.
Cromley scattered seven hits over 6.1 innings to earn the win.
