Kenny Durling added a 3-5 performance with four RBI while
Andrew Tressa,
Ryan Cacchioli,
John Repetto and Faria each had a pair of hits.
The Cougars (23-8, 12-3) threatened in the top of the first, as
Mike Impellittiere walked and Tressa singled to center to give the Cougars a pair of baserunners with just one out. After a strikeout, Faria drew a walk to load the bases, but a flyout would end the threat.
Delaware Valley (15-15, 4-11) would strike first in the bottom of the second by taking advantage of a Cougar fielding error. Jordan Heisler led the inning by reaching on an error, and consecutive singles by Jeff Sennett and Connor Buhler loaded the bases with nobody out.
Pete Doggett and the MU defense got a timely double-play to get a pair of outs, but Heisler was able to score on the play, giving the Aggies a 1-0 lead.
MU wasted little time erasing the deficit, as Durling followed a Tressa leadoff-triple with a double of his own to even the score at 1-1. Faria followed with a two-run shot over the left field wall to extend the lead to 3-1.
Cacchioli singled before a
Joe Tagliarini flyout gave the Aggies their first out of the inning. Cacchioli stole second to get in scoring position, and
Chris Boroch sent him home with a single to center field, but Boroch was thrown out trying to stretch into a double. Repetto drew a two-out walk to set up Lindsay for his two-run homer to left, pushing the Cougar advantage to 6-1 before a groundout ended the inning.
The Aggies cut the deficit to 6-3 in the bottom of the fifth on a Cody Hudnall two-run home run that scored Zach Kulikowski, but the Cougars responded in the top of the sixth with three more runs of their own.
Lindsay started the inning with a bunt single and advanced to second on an Impellittiere sacrifice bunt. A Tressa ground out advanced Lindsay to third, and he then scored on a Durling single to left field. A Faria single moved Durling to second and both runners advanced on a wild pitch, setting up
Ryan Cacchioli for a two-run double that grew the MU lead to 9-3 in the middle of the sixth.
Justin Haddix came in to relieve Doggett in the top of the seventh and struck out the leadoff batter, but he then allowed a walk and a pair of singles to load the bases. A bases-loaded walk would cut MU's lead to 9-4, but Haddix got a lineout and a groundout to avoid further damage.
After a quick eighth inning, MU scored two more runs in the top of the ninth to close the scoring at 11-4.
