Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey team dropped its season opener, 5-2, at Gwynedd-Mercy, Friday.



Lindsay Hischak and Allie Elmes both scored goals for the Cougars while Brianna Fischer added an assist.



After Gwynedd-Mercy took a 2-0 lead in the first 16 minutes with a pair of goals off penalty corners, Elmes got the Cougars on the board with an unassisted goal with less than four minutes remaining in the first half.



The Griffins went ahead less than 10 minutes into the second half and made it 5-1 with two goals in a two-minute span with under five minutes to play.



Hischak scored MU's second goal off a corner with an assist from Fischer with less than two minutes to play.



Gwynedd-Mercy held an 11-9 edge in shots while Misericordia had a 12-11 advantage in corners.



MU will visit Scranton, Wednesday.
