Box Score The Misericordia University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 heartbreaker in double overtime against Eastern University in Freedom Conference play Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Both the Cougars and the Eagles had numerous chances, but neither team could find the back of the net until the second overtime. Eastern's John Remsberg headed a ball off of a Benjamin Barnhart corner to give the Eagles the win.

Despite falling in double overtime, the Cougars nearly won the game in the first overtime period as
Rob Wiacek and
Nate Mansfield each just missed scoring opportunities.

Wiacek also had a quality chance late in the game, heading a ball towards the net that was scooped up at the last second.

Chris Panagacos and
Derek Antonini also played well, as both nearly beat the Eastern keeper in the first half.

The Cougars and Eagles each had five shots on goal while
Barry Fitzgerald had four saves in net for MU. Fitzgeralds' best save of the night came on a full extension dive to his right to keep the game tied with 26 minutes left in the first half.

With the loss, MU falls to 8-5-2 while Eastern improves to 10-2.
