Box Score The Misericordia University men's soccer team moved into a first-place tie in the Freedom Conference with a 3-1 win over FDU-Florham, Saturday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Wiacek scored his third consecutive game-winning goal and classmate Nick vonEgypt added a Senior Appreciation Day goal.

Derek Antonini added a goal for the Cougars while Nick Rogers, Chris Edkins and Matt Norcini had assists.

The Cougars grabbed an early lead when Wiacek soared above the pack in front of the goal and headed home a corner from Rogers at 14:19.

MU made it 2-0 when Norcini served a ball from the right wing where Chris Edkins played from the top of the box to Antonini who slotted inside the left post at 26:07.

vonEgypt put the Cougars ahead, 3-0, when he played a rebound into an empty at 57:47.

Misericordia nearly got on the board in the opening when vonEgypt stripped the ball from the Devils keeper in the box and served a ball to Nick Rogers whose point-blank shot was blocked.  Rogers' rebound was saved.

Ippolito's shot was deflected wide two minutes later and Wiacek's header off the ensuing corner was wide right.

The Cougars threatened again with 11:00 remaining in the first half when George Stock played a ball to a streaking Trey Ziegler down the left side, but Ziegler's shot was wide left.

Ippolito had a chance early in the second half on a re-start just outside the box, but his shot caromed off the right post.

MU improved to 11-5-2 overall and 5-1 in the Freedom and will wrap up the regular at DeSales, Saturday.
