Misericordia University will host local rival Wilkes University in a Freedom Conference field hockey game that will have post-season implications for both teams, Tuesday night at 7:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
Misericordia, 11-6 (5-1) enters its Freedom finale in a first-place tie with FDU-Florham and the Cougars can clinch the top seed with a win.
The game could serve as a post-season preview as Wilkes, 7-8 (3-2), is currently fourth in the Freedom with two games remaining. The Colonels can clinch a post-season berth with a win tonight or Thursday at Delaware Valley.
Wilkes won the last meeting between the two in a 2-1 overtime thriller in the Freedom Conference title game.
Misericordia has won eight of its last nine games, including a four-game win streak.
First year
Colby Eldridge (16g, 10a) leads the Cougars in scoring with 42 points while juniors
Lindsay Hischak (12g, 11a) and
Jennifer O'Neill (14g, 3a) add 35 and 31 points, respectively.
Seniors
Hannah Harvey (4g, 5a) and
Emily Hegner (4g, 4a) add scoring punch and Hegner has a team-high nine defensive saves.
Wilkes enters the game on a three-game win streak.
The Colonels are led by Marissa Surdy (12g, 11a) with 35 points while Aliya Frankel (6g, 6a) adds 18 points.
Maura Brownsey has five goals while Maura Anistranki is second on the team with seven assists.
