Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey team finished their regular season on a high note, with a 3-1 victory Thursday evening at Albright College.
Jennifer O'Neill led the Cougars with two goals while
Colby Eldridge added a goal and
Lindsay Hischak had an assist in the victory over the Lions.
MU held a commanding 8-1 lead in shots on goal and an 11-4 advantage.
Eldridge gave the Cougars the early advantage when a bouncing ball found her stick and she hammered it home from just inside the circle at the 7:17 mark of the game.
O'Neill then found the cage for the first time of the night, tipping in Hischak's pass from just to the right of the cage.
Albright got on the board just before the half as Jesse Leonardis scored off of a penalty corner.
The Cougars returned to form in the second half, dominating time of possession and earning multiple scoring chances.
O'Neill put the game out of reach with her second goal of the game, hammering home a loose ball in front of the cage to give MU a 3-1 lead with just over 15 minutes left to play.
Hannah Harvey,
Melanie Fry and
Emily Hegner all added scoring chances for the Cougars.
With the win, MU closes out its regular season with an overall record of 12-7 while Albright falls to 2-18.
The Cougars continue their season Wednesday afternoon in a Freedom Conference semifinal matchup against DeSales at 4:30 at Mangelsdorf Field.
MU enters the Freedom Conference Championships as the #2 seed after finishing conference play with a record of 5-2. Wednesday marks the second time the two teams will meet, as the Cougars beat the Bulldogs 4-1 on October 18 at Mangelsdorf Field.
