Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey team cruised to a 6-1 victory over Manhattanville on Saturday afternoon at McGeehan Field.
Colby Eldridge led a relentless Cougar's offensive attack with three goals and an assist while
Lindsay Hischak had two goals and
Jennifer O'Neill added a goal and two assists.
Emily Hegner,
Hannah Harvey and Hischack also added an assist.
The Cougars didn't waste much time, jumping out to a 1-0 lead just eight minutes into the game on Hischak's first goal. Manhattanville got one back with an unassisted goal at the 20 minute mark.
The tie didn't last long as Eldridge and O'Neill added their first goals of the game to give the Cougars a 3-1 lead at the half.
Eldridge found the back of the cage for the second time of the game less than five minutes into the second half and Hischak added her second of the game at the 43 minute mark. Eldridge sealed the deal with her final goal of the game at the 47 minute mark.
The Cougars dominated time of possesion and the shot column, outshooting the Valiants 24-4.
Angela Pasquini had three saves to help secure the Cougars' victory.
With the win, MU improves to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom Conference. Manhattanville fell to 2-10 and 0-2 in the conference.
The Cougars return to action Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field against William Patterson. The Cougars resume Freedom Conference play Saturday afternoon at Eastern.
