Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team (4-6) split a doubleheader at Susquehanna University (5-7), defeating the Crusaders 6-4 in the opening game and falling 4-0 in game two, Thursday evening.

Andi Veneziale roped an RBI single, giving MU a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first. Susquehanna tacked on a run of its own, tying the score at one after the first inning of play.

The Cougars offense heated up in the top half of the second, scoring three runs and taking a 4-1 lead.
Megan Gowe started the rally with an RBI single, while Megan hardy followed with a two-RBI double to right field capping the three-run second for MU.

MU picked up two more runs on a
Whitney Ellenberg bunt when the Susquehanna second baseman dropped the throw, allowing
Mackenzie Yurko to score and Ellenberg to advance to second, giving the Cougars a 6-1 lead heading into the home half of the sixth.

The Crusaders gave MU a scare in the bottom of the seventh when they plated three runs on three hits, but Brianna Murphy flew out to end the game and the Cougars emerged with the 6-4 victory.

Bailee Schies picked up the win in game one for the Cougars, improving to 2-2 on the season. She tossed a complete game allowing three earned runs, while striking out five and walking just one.

Susquehanna bounced back with a 4-0 victory in the second game of the twin bill.
Kristi Seiler had two hits for the Cougars in the loss.

MU is back in action Saturday afternoon, hosting a doubleheader against Manhattanville. First pitch is slated for 1:00 pm.Â
