Late-Inning Heroics Lift MU to Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Misericordia University baseball team took a doubleheader at Eastern, Tuesday, 4-3, 8-6, to complete a three-game sweep of the Eagles.

Kyle Lindsay had two hits, including a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning in the opener.

Chris Boroch had a hit and scored two runs and Max German and Steve Cuccio both drove in runs.

Corey Lee struck out two in two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Eastern took a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth in the opener before the Cougars rallied to tie in the bottom half to set the stage for Lindsay's heroics.

Trailing 3-1, Lindsay led off the bottom of the sixth with a triple to left center and scored on German's single through the left side.

German stole second, moved to third on a balk and scored the tying run on Cuccio's single through the same hole.

Boroch led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt before scoring the winning run on Lindsay's line drive to center.

Anthony LoBello started on the mound and allowed three earned runs over five innings before giving way to Lee.

In the nightcap, Mike Comerford had three hits, including a homer, and German added three hits.

Boroch had two hits and two RBI.

Lee picked up the win with one inning of relief and Ryan Dorosh worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

Tied 6-6 in the ninth, Kyle Seawards singled with one out and came all the way around to score on Comerford's double.  After Nick Hair drew a walk, Al Reda doubled home Comerford to put MU ahead, 8-6.

Dorosh struck out in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.

Misericordia improved to 11-7 overall and 7-2 in the Freedom Conference.  The Cougars will host Arcadia in a non-league game, Wednesday at 4:00 at Tambur Field.
