4/14/2014 7:04:00 PM

Box Score The Misericordia University baseball team suffered a 10-5 loss to Keystone College, Monday afternoon at Tambur Field.

Keystone's offense got started right away picking up two runs in the top half of the first on a Lymbel Guererro double to left-center.

Neither team plated a run until the Cougars made things interesting in the home half of the fifth. MU took advantage of some costly mistakes by the Keystone infield, eventually taking a 3-2 lead. Steve Cuccio scored from third when Jeremy DeCottis bounced a grounder toward second and Chris Boroch capitalized with an RBI single to right center. DeCotiis then scored from third when Kyle Lindsay sent a ground ball through the legs of Keystone's third baseman.

The Giants offense responded, taking a 4-3 lead in the top half of the sixth. Guerrero continued to show his power with a home run to left and Rick McLaughlin followed with a solo blast over the right field fence.

Keystone added two more in the eighth on RBI doubles off the bat of Gaston Rojas and Louis Reyes.

Cuccio responded in the eighth with a solo shot way over the left-centerfield fence and Al Reda dropped in an RBI single to shallow right field, bringing MU within 7-5. However, that was as close as the Cougars would come as Keystone added three more in the top of the 9th, securing a 10-5 victory.

Darren Lauer picked up the win for the Giants, tossing five innings allowing two earned runs and striking out two while Dan Kliesh suffered the loss for the Cougars. Jim Tunison got the Cougars out of the jam getting the final two outs in the eighth inning.

Nick Hair and Reda finished the day with two hits each while Boroch, Cuccio and Miles Westrich had the other hits for the Cougars.

MU is back in action Wednesday afternoon at King's College and returns to Tambur Field to conclude the three-game, two-day series with a doubleheader against the Monarchs on Thursday afternoon at 1:00.
