Box Score Corey Lee tossed six shutout innings as the Misericordia University baseball team completed a three-game sweep of King's with a 12-0 win, Monday.
Lee struck out five and allowed just two hits to earn the win and the Cougars combined 13 hits with eight Monarchs' errors.
Nick Hair had his second three-hit game in the series and
Joe Tagliarini had two hits, including a two-run homer.
Kyle Seawards and
Jeremy DeCotiis had two hits and
Brian Eshleman added a double and two RBI.
Shane McGraw,
Garrett Pelko and
Brett Davis combined for three shutout innings to close out the game.
MU took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Hair drew a one-out walk and moved up when
Kyle Lindsay was hit by a pitch.
Max German beat out an infield single and Hair scored on a wild throw. Lindsay scored to make it 2-0 when
Mike Comerford reached on an error.
The Cougars took advantage of two more hit batsmen and an error to double their score in the second. Tagliarini led off the inning with a single down the left field line.
Al Reda and
Jeremy DeCotiis both reached via hit by pitch before Hair's single to right was misplayed as the Cougars scored twice to make it 4-0.
Three more King's errors helped the Cougars put the game away with a four-spot in the top of the third. Comerford reached on a two-base error and moved to third Seawards' single to center. After Tagliarini's sac fly, Reda reached on an error and DeCotiis made it 6-0 with a single to left.
Chris Boroch reached on an error to load the bases and Hair followed with an RBI-single to left and Eshleman drew a pinch-hit bases loaded walk to make it 8-0.
Tagliarini added a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
Misericordia improved to 20-11-1 and 14-4 in the Freedom Conference. The Cougars will travel to Rutgers-Newark, Tuesday before opening a three-game series with Wilkes, Friday at Tambur Field.
