Box Score The Misericordia University baseball team earned an important 6-1 victory over Wilkes on Friday afternoon at Tambur Field.

Despite ultimately losing the game, Wilkes jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single to right field off the bat of Dan Pisanchyn. Mike Comerford came up with a terrific throw into second base to get Pisanchyn trying to leg out a double.

The Cougars answered right back in the home half of the first, tying the game at 1-1. Chris Boroch swung at a breaking ball in the dirt, but hustled down to first on the wild pitch. Kyle Lindsay and Max German were then hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out.

Mike Comerford then came up and sent a ground ball towards third base that could have been a double play, however Ryan Herbst tagged third for the force out and fired to first with hopes of a double play, but the throw was in the dirt, allowing Boroch to score from third.

MU picked up two more runs in the third when Comerford sent a shot out to centerfield that was dropped, allowing Lindsay to score all the way from second. Seawards followed with a groundout to second, scoring German and giving MU a 3-1 lead.

Seawards broke it open in the home half of the fifth when he gave the Cougars a 6-1 lead with a three-run blast over the left field wall.

Jeremy DeCotiis finished the day 2-3 with two triples while Seawards drove in four runs.

Dorosh picked up the victory, allowing just one run over eight innings. The sophomore right-hander struck out five and walked two. Jim Tunison tossed a scoreless ninth for the Cougars.

Misericordia and Wilkes conclude their three game series Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader at Artillery Park at 1:00 p.m.
