Box Score The Misericordia University baseball team bounced back from a tough loss to Manhattanville to defeat DeSales 8-1 to earn a spot in the Freedom Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Cougars jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top half of the first when Chris Boroch scored from third on a Max German groundout. Boroch drew a leadoff walk and moved over to third on a double down the right field line off the bat of Kyle Lindsay.

The MU offense exploded for two more runs in the home half of second. Nick Hair sent a sharp ground ball to the left side, but the Bulldogs, despite a diving attempt, couldn't come up with the ball and two runs came in to score. Later in the inning, German laced a two-run double to the left-centerfield gap to extend the Cougars lead to 5-0 after just two innings.

The Cougars added two more runs in the sixth with the first coming on a bloop single to right by Boroch and the second coming on a beautiful bunt down the third base line by Hair.

The Bulldogs added a run in the home half of the seventh, but the Cougars got it right back on a Kyle Lindsay RBI single.

Corey Lee tossed seven innings allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out six Bulldogs. Cory Vogeli tossed two scoreless innings in relief.

The Cougars are back in action Sunday afternoon for a chance at their fourth Freedom Conference Championship. The Cougars will be the visiting team in the first game and if they win, they will be the home game in the second game.
