MU Softball Falls to King's at Freedom Championships

Box Score The Misericordia University softball team was eliminated from the Freedom Conference Championships with a 6-1 loss to King's, Saturday afternoon at Delaware Valley.

Sam Hare had two hits for the Cougars while Andi Veneziale, Megan Gowe and Diana Kestenbaum all had doubles.

Mackenzie Yurko drove in MU's lone run in the top of the seventh.

Jess Armillay struck out four and allowed 10 hits while absorbing the loss.

King's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a solo homer by Amanda Cardone.

The Monarchs added four runs in the fourth and made it 6-0 with a run in the bottom of the fifth.

Hare led off the seventh with a single and moved to third on Veneziale's double down the right field line.  Melissa Parker reached on a fielder's choice with Hare out at the plate.

Yurko followed with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Misericordia, 24-15, will await a potential ECAC bid while King's advances to face Manhattanville for the Freedom Championship.
