Box Score The Misericordia University softball team overcame a four-run deficit to beat FDU-Florham, 10-8, Saturday morning to remain alive at the Freedom Conference Championships at Delaware Valley.
Misericordia will play King's in an elimination game at 11:00 a.m.
Kristi Seiler and
Megan Hardy both had three hits while
Andi Veneziale and
Melissa Parker added two hits each.
Seiler, Veneziale and Parker all homered for MU while Veneziale and
Diana Kestenbaum both doubled.
Bailee Schies scattered 11 hits while allowing just four earned runs over seven innings to earn the win.
Trailing 8-4 after two innings, the Cougars got a run back in the third when Veneziale doubled to center and eventually scored on
Mackenzie Yurko's sacrifice fly.
MU tied it with a three-run fourth inning. Hardy, Seiler and
Sam Hare hit consecutive singles and Kestenbaum's two-out, two-run double to left pulled MU even, 8-8.
Parker gave the Cougars the lead with a solo homer to right to lead off the sixth and Seiler added an insurance run with a two-out solo homer in the seventh.
Misericordia took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but FDU rallied for three in the bottom half.
The Cougars regained the lead with a three-run second, but the Devils answered with five in their half to go up, 8-4.
