Box Score The Scranton University field hockey team came into Wednesday night's game at Misericordia with five consecutive shutout wins. The Cougars spoiled the Royals hopes of a sixth straight shutout, but Scranton hung on for a 2-1 victory at Mangelsdorf Field.

Emily Hegner had the lone goal for the Cougars while Eldridge was credited with the assist. Angela Pasquini had 12 saves in the cage for the Cougars.

Meghan Kearney gave the Royals a 1-0 lead at the 16:01 mark of the first half. Alyssa Fania scored the other goal for the Royals, beating Pasquini to the top left of the cage on a penalty stroke at the 41:12 mark.

Hegner put the Cougars on the board, deflecting a shot from Colby Eldridge into the cage to bring MU within 2-1. However, despite a late flurry of chances, the Cougars couldn't find the back of the cage to force overtime.

With the loss MU falls to 3-3 on the season while Scranton improves to 6-0. The Cougars return to action Saturday afternoon, hosting Catholic University at McGeehan Field at 2:00.
