th ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team was firing on all cylinders, dominating previously unbeaten and 23
rd-ranked Elizabethtown for 90 minutes to capture a 3-0 victory at Mangelsdorf Field on Wednesday night.

Prior to Wednesday night's game, the Blue Jays hadn't allowed a goal all season, but
Megan Mahoney changed that, leading a relentless MU offensive attack. The senior scored one goal and added an assist for the Cougars while
Megan Lannigan and
Erin McGreal had one goal each.
Amber Hartranft and
Kylen Smith each added an assist.

Maureen Ciccosanti was terrific in goal, collecting four saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season.

Mahoney gave the Cougars all they would need just 1:22 into the game, finishing a perfect cross from
Kylen Smith into the top left corner of the net.

The Cougars had a flurry of chances later in the first half.
Meghan Antrim played a through ball from McGreal at the 30-minute mark, but missed just wide of the net. Hartranft then had a great chance off of a cross from Mahoney at the 22-minute mark, but Dana Robidoux made a terrific diving save.

Mahoney nearly came up with her second goal of the game just two minutes later, drilling a shot from 25 yards out that went off the keeper's hands and sailed over the net.

The Blue Jays best chance of the game came with just 30 seconds left in the first half when Lauren Berry drilled a shot towards the left side of the net from 20 yards out, but Ciccosanti made a magnificent full-extension diving save to keep the momentum, and the game, in the Cougars favor at the half.

Lannigan gave the Cougars a huge insurance goal and a 2-0 lead in the 60
th minute when she beat the keeper off of a Hartranft corner.

Antrim had two more chances to extend the lead, missing wide midway through the second half and had a shot sail high on a breakaway with just 18 minutes left to play.

McGreal put the game out of reach, hammering home a loose ball following a Mahoney shot from the top of the 18 that went off the keeper's hands.

The Cougars finished the game with 20 total shots, 11 of them on goal, while the Blue Jays had just four shots on goal. MU also held a 9-2 advantage in corners.

Robidoux finished the game with eight saves for the Blue Jays.

With the win, the Cougars improved to 6-1 on the season while Elizabethtown fell to 5-1. MU returns to action Saturday afternoon at Arcadia at 4:00.
