The Misericordia University volleyball team swept King's, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-13) in a key MAC Freedom match, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Meghan Stack led MU with 11 kills while
Michelle Sehested added 10 kills on just 19 attempts.Â
Nicole Tagerty added six kills, 26 assists and 11 digs while
Kaitlin Wheeler had three aces and 12 digs.
Paige Shaughnessy and
Coleby Charlier had five kills each.
Tagerty, Shaughnessy and Wheeler all had aces in the first set and Sehested and Stack combined for four kills down the stretch.
Sehested had two kills from the left side to put MU up, 22-19, and Stack's cross-court push from the left made it 23-20.
Stack's smash down the left side made it 24-20 and a King's misplay ended the set.
Down 4-1 in the second set, the Cougars scored nine straight points to take a 10-4 lead.
Ariana Gagliardi and Stack had aces to increase the lead to 17-8 and Stack eventually closed the set with another ace.
Maggie Martin and Wheeler both had aces and Tagerty and Collins combined for two blocks as the Cougars jumped out to a 12-3 lead in the third set.
Sehested had two smashes from the left side and Tagerty ended a long rally with perfectly placed dink in the middle as the Cougars took a 20-9 lead.
Wheeler added another ace and Collins closed out the match with a kill in the middle.
Misericordia improved to 4-1 in the MAC Freedom.
