The Misericordia men's soccer team battled to 0-0 double-overtime draw with Manhattanville, Saturday at Mangelsdorf Field.
Matt Smith made three saves in goal to earn his second straight shutout in just his second start.
In a tense, physical game, both sides had opportunities to score.
MU's best chance in the first half came in the 22
nd minute when
Niko Amity's shot from just outside the box forced the Manhattanville keeper to dive and punch the ball over the crossbar.
Minutes into the second half,
Derek Antonini headed the ball on goal from close range, but a Manhattanville defender cleared it off the line.
In the final minute of regulation, Amity found Antonini inside the box but his shot went just wide.
Trey Zeigler blasted a shot from the right wing that caromed t off the crossbar near the end of the first OT and
Chris Edkins' header off the rebound was saved.
Smith came off his line in the 113
th minute to make a fantastic sliding save on a point-blank shot by Oskar Martinsson.
The Cougars out-shot Manhattanville 20-9 and won the corner battle 8-5.
The tie moves the Cougars to 6-5-2 and 2-1-1 in conference.
MU travels to play at King's, Tuesday at 7:00.
