Jason Kenny scored 31 points as the Misericordia University men's basketball team closed the first semester with an 82-67 win at Montclair State, Saturday afternoon.

Griffin Sponaugle added 18 points and
Erik Kerns had eight points, seven rebounds and six assists while
James Hawk had seven points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

The Cougars used an early 10-0 run to take a 12-4 lead and never looked back.

Sponaugle hit a three-pointer and Kenny, Kerns and Hawk made consecutive layups to cap a 9-0 run and stretch MU's lead to 33-16 with 3:13 left in the first half.

Sponaugle added another three-pointer with less than a minute to play and the Cougars led 36-23 at halftime.

After Montclair cut the lead to 43-38 just five minutes into the second half, Sponaugle,
Tyler McGarry and Kenny all hit three-pointers to extend the lead back to 52-38 with 13:11 to go.

Kenny scored seven straight points to put MU ahead 64-48 and the Cougars maintained a double-digit lead over the final 7:46.

Misericordia, 6-5, will return to action at Franklin & Marshall, January 2.
