The Misericordia University women's lacrosse team trailed late in the game, but
Liz Mulvey tied the game at 12-12 with just three seconds left and the Cougars emerged with a 15-12 overtime-victory at Alvernia.

Melina Juliano led the Cougars' offense with five goals and three assists while Mulvey added four goals and an assist.
Brooke North followed with three goals while
Olivia Garcia,
Alexandra Elmes and
Erin Baker picked up one goal each in the victory.

The Cougars jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the first half while Alvernia outscored the Cougars 9-3 in the second half to force overtime. MU dominated the overtime period, outscoring Alvernia 3-0 to earn the 15-12 victory.

The Crusaders controlled the early momentum, taking a 4-1 lead in the game's first 10 minutes.

Juliano picked up two quick goals awakening the Cougars' offense midway through the opening half.

The Cougars then scored eight unanswered goals over the final 20 minutes of the half to take a 9-3 lead.

The Crusaders started the second half on a mission with the first four goals of the half, tightening the MU lead to just 9-7 with 17:24 left in regulation.

North and Juliano added two goals to extend the Cougars' lead to four at 11-7 with 15 minutes left.

Alvernia answered with five straight goals to take a 12-11 lead with just 20 seconds left.

MU made the most of the final seconds as Mulvey found the back of the net with just three seconds left to force overtime.

Mulvey, Juliano and North scored for the Cougars in the overtime period to secure the 15-12 victory.

With the win, MU improves to 1-4 while Alvernia falls to 1-1.

The Cougars return to action Wednesday night at 7:00 against Wesley at Mangelsdorf Field.
