The Misericordia Univesity women's lacrosse team jumped out to a fast start and never looked back, capturing a 13-6 victory over Wesley College on Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Olivia Garcia, Erin Baker and Melina Juliano led the Cougars with three goals and one assist each while Brooke North added three goals. Alexandra Elmes added a goal and an assist and Liz Mulvey chipped in with an assist. Katie McLoughlin posted six saves in the victory.
 
The Cougars outshot the Wolverines 33-21 and had just 10 turnovers to Wesleys 21.
 
North started the Cougars' scoring spree just one minute into the game while Garcia followed with her first of the game and North added another at the 15:37 mark to give the Cougars an early 3-0 lead.
 
Rylee Gould put the Wolverines on the board with 11:06 left in the opening half, cutting the Cougars' lead to just 3-1.
 
Later in the half, Juliano picked up two goals, extending MU's lead to 5-1 after the first 30 minutes of play.
 
Garcia wasted no time extending the Cougars' lead in the second half, scoring her second goal of the game just 29 seconds into the half. Baker added another just 30 seconds later, extending the MU lead to 7-1.
 
Wesley answered with two of its own, making it a four-goal game at 7-3 midway through the half.
 
The Wolverine's momentum didn't last long as Baker, Garcia, Juliano and Elmes all scored goals, leading the Cougars on a 6-0 run over a 10-minute span.
 
Wesley added three goals in the final six minutes, but it was too little too late and the Cougars emerged with the 13-6 victory.
 
With the win, MU improves to 2-4 while Wesley falls to 4-3.
 
The Cougars are back in action Sunday afternoon at 1:00 against Arcadia at Mangelsdorf Field.
