The #17 Misericordia University baseball team won its fifth straight game with a 3-1 victory at Wesley, Thursday.
Cory Vogeli scattered five hits over six innings to improve to 3-0 while
Jim Tunison combined with two other relievers for three shutout innings to earn the save.
Chris Boroch paced the MU offense with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.Â
Steve Cuccio had two hits and
Kyle Lindsay and
Mike Comerford both drove in runs.Â
D.J. Navoczynski added a double.
Misericordia took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and added a run in the fourth.
Wesley scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth.
Jeremy DeCotiis and Boroch drew back-to-back walks to open the third inning and moved up on
Chad Bell's sacrifice bunt.
Lindsay got MU on the board with a sacrifice fly to left field and Comerford's two-out single to center made it 2-0.
Brian Eshleman grounded a single up the middle to lead of the fourth and advanced to second one out later on DeCotiis' ground out.
Boroch plated Eshleman with a two-out single to left.
After Dorosh struck out two in a perfect seventh inning,
Corey Lee induced a 1-2-3 double-play grounder to escape a bases loaded jam in the eighth.
Tunison worked a perfect ninth to earn his first save.
Misericordia, 8-1, is scheduled to play Wilkes in a doubleheader, Saturday.
