Box Score 2 The Misericordia University softball team swept a pair of games in Florida, Wednesday.
The Cougars rallied to beat Alvernia, 6-5, in eight innings and topped Elizabethtown, 10-1, in five innings.
Lori Brennan hit her first career homer and
Kristi Seiler and
Melissa Parker both added homers against Alvernia.
Sam hare added three hits, including a single to drive in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth.
Alissa Steier worked 5-1/3 innings of relief to get the win.
Trailing Alvernia 5-1 in the sixth, Seiler doubled and Parker walked before Brennan blasted her a three-run homer to pull within a run.
Steier worked out of a two-on, nobody jam in the bottom of the sixth and Seiler ripped a solo homer in the seventh to set the stage for Hare.
In the nightcap, Parker had three more hits, including a homer, and drove in six runs.
Melanie Quintanilla added two hits and Steier worked three innings to earn another win.
Tied 2-2, MU scored three times in the third on Parker's homer, and added four runs in the fourth.
Whitney Ellenberg scored three runs from the lead-off spot as the Cougars improved to 4-4.
