Chris Fleming scored three goals, including two in the fourth quarter, to lift the Misericordia University men's lacrosse team to a 10-5 win over Farmingdale State, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Pat Kellish and
Andrew Reynolds scored twice and
Brandon Winslow,
Jake Kocovsky and
Trevor Bodnar added one goal each.
Patrick Johnson made seven saves to earn the win in goal.
Fleming, Kellish and Reynolds all added four groundballs and
Patrick Newins and
John Tierney each caused three turnovers.
Fleming broke a 3-3 tie with the only goal of the third quarter when he finished a feed from
Lane Kocovsky inside the right post with 3:55 remaining in the period.
Bodnar and Winslow scored from opposite sides in a 30-second span to open the fourth quarter and give MU a 6-3 lead.
After a Farmingdale goal, Fleming and
Jake Kocovsky scored 20 seconds apart for an 8-4 lead with 7:03 to play.
Reynolds gave the Cougars an early lead with a man-up goal just 2:20 into the game.
Farmingdale tied it a minute later and Pat Kellish and Reynolds scored in a 30-second span to make it 3-1 with 8:03 to play.
The Rams scored again with 7:25 left in the first and tied it with the only goal of the second period.
MU, 5-4, will host Eastern in their Freedom Conference opener, Wednesday at 7:00.
