Dorosh Breaks Wins Record, Cougars Sweep Aggies

Ryan Dorosh dominated the opposition, setting a new school record with his 20th career win, helping the Misericordia University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep over Delaware Valley on Saturday afternoon at Tambur Field.

The Cougars cruised to an 18-2 victory in the opener and then completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory in game two of the twin-bill.

Dorosh tossed a complete game in the finale, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out seven to improve to 3-0 on the season.

In the second game, Mike Comerford, D.J. Navoczynski, Brian Eshleman and Nick Hair all drove in runs while Chris Boroch and Nick Hair added two hits in the victory.

In the opener, Kyle Lindsay and Al Reda led a relentless MU offense with three RBI each while Jeremy DeCotiis, Alec Iurato and Comerford each drove in two runs. Evan Bush, Eshleman, Boroch and Hair all added an RBI in the game one victory.

Kyle Rogalski picked up the victory on the mound in game one, tossing 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Elliot Forde and Jacob Stone added one shutout inning each out of the bullpen to preserve the victory.

MU jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead on Lindsay's RBI single in the first. Reda then extended the Cougars' lead to 3-0 with a two-run single to center in the third.

Delaware Valley picked up two runs in the fourth to make it a one-run game heading into the home half.

The MU offense exploded for seven runs and then added eight more in the sixth to put the game out of reach at 18-2.

Delaware Valley struck first in the nightcap, picking up one run on their only two hits in the opening inning.

MU then executed the double steal with runners on the corners to tie the game at 1-1. Navoczynski then roped a single up the middle, giving the Cougars a 2-1 advantage after the first.

Dorosh didn't allow another baserunner the rest of the game and a four-run bottom of the fifth secured the Cougars' 6-1 victory and the sweep.

With the win, MU improves to 17-4 overall and 7-2 in Freedom Conference play. Delaware Valley falls to 6-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

The Cougars return to action Sunday afternoon at 1:00 against Stevens Institute of Technology at Tambur Field.
