MU Men Earn Senior Day Victory

Seniors Andrew Reynolds and Trevor Bodnar combined for five goals and classmate Patrick Johnson made five saves as the Misericordia University men's lacrosse defeated Manhattanville, 18-4, on Senior Appreciation Day.

Reynolds had three goals and three assists and Bodnar had two goals.  Pat Kellish led MU with four goals and three assists while Chris Fleming, Kyle Reese and Brandon Winslow all scored twice.

Fleming gave the Cougars a quick 1-0 lead off a feed from Reynolds just over a minute into the game.

The Valiants tied it five minutes later, but the Cougars responded with 12 straight goals to take a 13-2 lead late in the first half.

From behind the net, Kellish found Fleming charging down the middle of the lane to put the Cougars back on top at 6:55.

Bodnar made it 3-1 with a shot from well beyond the top of the circle and Reynolds found Kellish on the left post for a 4-1 lead with 4:59 to play in the period.

Bodnar bounced a shot through the crease and Winslow took a pass from Lane Kocovsky from behind the net for a 6-1 lead with 3:16 to go in the quarter.

Kellish ended the first quarter scoring when he circled behind the net to make it 7-1 with 16 seconds remaining.

Reynolds found Kellish again to open the second period and Philip Fraher bounced a shot over the goalie's shoulder to make it 9-1 with 9:55 remaining in the second quarter.

Kyle Reese finished a pass from Kellish and Reynolds scored off the face-off win just seven seconds later for a 11-1 advantage with 4:45 to play.

Kellish found Michael Iglio at the top of the circle and Reynolds scored off another face-off win to stretch the lead to 13-1 with 2:23 left.

Reynolds was 8 of 12 on face-offs and had a team-high seven groundballs.

Pat Kellish had five groundballs while Alec Kellish and Steve Dallicardillo had two caused turnovers.

MU, 7-6 (2-2 Freedom), will host King's, Tuesday at 7:00.
