The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a tough, 5-3, decision on the road at Widener on Wednesday afternoon.

Ben Ciraolo,
Chad Bell and
Mike Comerford led the Cougars with one hit and one RBI each while
Chris Boroch had two hits in the loss.

Corey Lee took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out three and walking two over 4.2 innings.
Dillon Del Rosso,
Anthony LoBello and
Jake Kurtz all tossed scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Widener struck first, scoring three runs in the home half of the third, taking a 3-0 lead into the fourth.

The Cougars answered with a two-run second. Ciraolo drove in the first run with an RBI double. Bell followed with an RBI single through the left side, bringing MU within one at 3-2 heading into the home half of the fourth.

The Pride added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, extending their lead to 5-2 after four innings.

The offenses went quiet until the top of the ninth when MU tried to spark a late rally.

Comerford ripped an RBI double down the left field line, cutting the Widener lead to 5-3. However, the Cougars couldn't plate another run and Widener emerged with the two-run victory.

With the loss, MU falls to 15-4 while Widener improves to 10-10.

The Cougars return to action Friday afternoon at 3:30 at Delaware Valley. MU then concludes the three game series with a doubleheader against the Aggies on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at Tambur Field.
