Brooke North scored five goals to lead the Misericordia University women's lacrosse team to a 16-8 win at Eastern in their Freedom Conference opener, Wednesday afternoon.
Emily Hegner added three goals and
Melina Juliano had two goals and two assists for the Cougars.
Olivia Garcia had a goal and an assist,
Erin Baker scored two goals and
Liz Mulvey had a goal and three assists.
Katie McLoughlin had 11 saves in goal.
Eastern scored twice in the first six minutes and the lead held until Juliano and
Ashley Hobbs scored 21 seconds apart to tie it, 2-2, with 18:03 left in the first half.
Juliano, Baker and North scored three straight goals in a six-minute span as the Cougars took a 5-2 lead.
The teams traded goals over the final 10:29 of the half and MU took a 7-4 lead into intermission.
Eastern cut the margin to 7-5 seven minutes into the second half, but the Cougars took control with four consecutive goals, including three straight by North.
North and Hegner scored back-to-back goals to give the Cougars a 13-6 lead with 10:32 remaining.
MU will host Delaware Valley University, Saturday at 2:00.
