Box Score The Misericordia University softball team dropped its first game of the Freedom Conference championships, 7-6, in 10 innings to Eastern, Friday afternoon at King's.
The Cougars will play an elimination game against King's immediately.
Down 6-0, the Cougars tied the game with a six-run rally in the sixth inning, but the Eagles won it with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10
th.
Whitney Ellenberg and
Melanie Quintanilla had two hits for the Cougars and
Sam Hare drove in two runs.
Eastern scored twice in the bottom of the first and added four runs in the second.
Bailee Schies came on in relief in the second and worked 7.2 shutout innings.
Seiler blooped a double inside the right field line to lead off the sixth and
Megan Hardy and
Melissa Parker walked to load the bases.
Pinch-hitter
Lori Brennan drew a walk to force in a run and
Andi Veneziale followed with a sacrifice fly to right center.
Diana Kestenbaum reached on an error to make it 6-3 and Ellenberg walked to re-load the bases.
Quintanilla drove in a run with a sacrifice to center and
Sam Hare tied it with a two-run triple to right center.
The Misericordia/King's winner will advance to Saturday to play the loser of Eastern/DeSales at 11:00 a.m.
