The Misericordia University field hockey dropped a tough 3-1 decision to Haverford College, Wednesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.

Down 2-0, Lerch scored early in the second half but the Cougars conceded the third Haverford goal minutes later.

Misericordia had a number of scoring chances but couldn't capitalize.

Early in the first half, Colby Eldridge sent a ball from the left wing to the right post but Haley Gruber's shot went wide right.

Midway through the second half, Kailey Vogl blasted a shot just left of the goal.

Minutes later, Lindsay Hischak intercepted a pass at midfield, raced down field and beat a defender before shooting wide left.

Jenn Gazdick made her first start of the season and made five saves, including a fine stop of a close-range shot on a Haverford breakaway in the first half.

The Cougars managed 10 shots to Haverford's 11 and the corners were even at six.

The Cougars are 2-5 and begin MAC Freedom action against FDU-Florham, Saturday at 1:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
