Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey dropped a tough 3-1 decision to Haverford College, Wednesday evening at Mangelsdorf Field.
Suzhaunna Lerch scored her first goal of the season for the Cougars.
Down 2-0, Lerch scored early in the second half but the Cougars conceded the third Haverford goal minutes later.
Misericordia had a number of scoring chances but couldn't capitalize.
Early in the first half,
Colby Eldridge sent a ball from the left wing to the right post but
Haley Gruber's shot went wide right.
Midway through the second half,
Kailey Vogl blasted a shot just left of the goal.
Minutes later,
Lindsay Hischak intercepted a pass at midfield, raced down field and beat a defender before shooting wide left.
Jenn Gazdick made her first start of the season and made five saves, including a fine stop of a close-range shot on a Haverford breakaway in the first half.
The Cougars managed 10 shots to Haverford's 11 and the corners were even at six.
The Cougars are 2-5 and begin MAC Freedom action against FDU-Florham, Saturday at 1:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
