The Misericordia University volleyball team remained unbeaten in the MAC Freedom with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-18) win over Manhattanville, Wednesday night at the Anderson Center.
Meghan Stack led the Cougars with 12 kills while
Michelle Sehested and
Megan Collins had eight kills each.
Nicole Tagerty had 30 assists and
Ariana Gagliardi had four aces.
Lexi Giannone had 13 digs and Stack and
Kaitlin Wheeler both had 12 as the Cougars improved to 3-0 in league play.
Tied 10-10, in the first set, MU went ahead on a Manhattanville error and Wheeler's ace.
Gagliardi followed with back-to-back aces as part of a 7-0 run to make it 20-11.
After Manhattanville scored three straight points to get within 23-15, Stack's ace and a well-placed dink by Collins closed out the set, 25-15.
Sehested's cross-court kill from the left side broke a 9-9 tie in the second set.
Collins' kill in the back right corner gave the Cougars the lead for good and she combined with Sehested for a block and a 20-18 lead.
Tagerty's ace made it 22-18 and Sehested added two more kills, include a smash through two blockers on the right side, to win it 25-22.
Collins had three kills in the middle to give the Cougars an early 11-8 lead in the third set.
Stack had two kills to make it 19-13 and the Cougars took advantage of five Manhattanville errors down the stretch to win, 25-18.
Misericordia will play Lycoming and Messiah at the MAC Cross-Over, Saturday at Wilkes.
