Jason Kenny scored 29 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to a 70-64 win in MAC Freedom action, Wednesday night at Wilkes.
Erik Kerns added 16 points and seven rebounds and
Griffin Sponaugle had 11 points and six rebounds.
After Wilkes erased a 17-point deficit to pull even, 56-56, Kenny made two free throws to MU back in front for good with 3:39 to play.
Tyler McGarry, Sponaugle and Kenny combined for six free throws over the next two minutes to give Misericordia a 66-60 lead with 32 seconds remaining.
Kenny sank four free throws over the final 22 seconds to seal the win.
An early 7-0 run gave MU a 13-7 lead with 13:07 to play in the first half.
Trailing 7-6, Sponaugle scored five straight points and Kerns hit a jumper to give the Cougars a six-point lead.
Kenny hit a three-pointer for a 21-15 lead with 6:02 to go.
Kenny added another three-pointer and layup to close out the first half scoring and give MU a 28-22 halftime lead.
James Hawk opened the second half scoring with a free throw and
Alec Rodway followed with a three-pointer to give the Cougars a 32-22 lead.
Sponaugle converted a layup to extend MU's run to 11 points for a 34-22 lead just three minutes into the second half.
Kerns nailed a three-pointer and Kenny followed with a layup for a 39-25 with 14:04 to play.
Tyler McGarry added a three-pointer to cap an 8-0 run and put MU up, 42-25.
A layup by Kenny snapped a 7-0 Wilkes spurt and stretched the MU lead to 44-32 with 11:45 to play.
Wilkes hit consecutive three-pointers, but Kerns answered with two three-pointers of his own for a 50-38 advantage with 9:48 to go.
Wilkes used three straight three-pointers to pull within 52-48 with 8:12 to go and scored six straight points to pull even, 54-54, with 6:30 left.
McGarry's layup put MU back in front, but Wilkes tied it, 56-56, with 4:14 to play.
Kenny made two free throws and the Cougars led the rest of the way.
Misericordia improved to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the MAC Freedom. The Cougars will host Manhattanville, Saturday at 3:00.
