Erik Kerns and
Jason Kenny scored 15 points each to lead four Misericordia players in double figures in a 75-61 win over FDU-Florham, Saturday in the Anderson Center.
Griffin Sponaugle had 12 points and
James Hawk had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Kerns had a game-high 10 rebounds while Sponaugle added five assists.
FDU scored the game's first five points, but the Cougars rallied with 12 straight to take a 12-5 lead.
Kenny sandwiched a pair of three-pointers around a Hawk jumper to give MU an 8-5 lead and Hawk and
Alec Rodway followed with layups to make it 12-5 less than five minutes into the game.
Kerns sank a turnaround jumper for a 14-6 edge before FDU made a pair of three-pointers.
Kerns answered with a soft left-handed jumper and Sponaugle drained a three-pointer for a 19-12 lead midway through the first period.
Rodway forced a turnover and went the length of the floor for a layup and Sponaugle hit a deep three-pointer to stretch the lead to 27-16.
Darren Davy made a short jumper and Kerns added a putback to give the Cougars a 32-19 lead.
Sponaugle hit a three from the right corner and
John Murphy followed with a baby hook shot to put MU up, 35-19.
Murphy's two-handed dunk made it 39-29 with 2:36 left in the half.
Kenny and Sponaugle hit back-to-back three-pointers as the Cougars took a 47-27 lead early in the second half.
FDU-Florham cut the margin to 52-41 with 11:46 remaining, but Kenny scored four straight points to cap a 9-0 run and put the Cougars ahead, 68-44, with 6:24 to play.
Misericordia, 10-9 (4-4), will travel to DeSales, Wednesday.
