The Misericordia University women's basketball team lost on the road at Division I Binghamton in an exhibition game, Monday.
Justine Seely filled the stat sheet for the Cougars: notching eight points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and three steals.
Leanne Forsyth had seven points and four assists while
Liz Waleski had six points, nailing two three pointers.
Rachel Carmody and
Alexa Plitt each had five points.
The game was extra special for Carmody as she faced off against her twin sister, Rebecca, a first year forward for the Bearcats. Rebecca had 13 points for Binghamton.
Misericordia scored the first basket of the game off a
Nikki Baro jumper.
Binghamton quickly responded and the score was knotted 2-2 for the first three minutes into the game.
Later in the quarter a Forsyth jumper gave the lead back to the Cougars, 9-8, with 3:50 to go.
Waleski drilled a three to make it 12-11 with 2:57 remaining, which was the last time Misericordia would lead.
The teams traded buckets the rest of the quarter and Binghamton was up after one, 20-16.
Lena Williams scored the first bucket of the second quarter, but Binghamton countered with a 12-2 run to get up 32-20 within the first three and half minutes.
MU didn't back down, responding with a 9-2 run of their own.
First Seely made a layup, then a few plays later she got a defensive rebound and dribbled the length of the floor before dishing to
Jaclyn Hajec, who laid it in.
Next, Seely intercepted a pass and tossed it ahead to Forsyth who laid it in off the glass.
Binghamton came down and scored, but Carmody drained a three to cap the run and put the score at 34-29.
MU went into the half down 36-29.
The second half got off to a good start for the Cougars, with a Forsyth three one minute into the third quarter cutting the lead to five at 37-32.
But Binghamton went on a 15-0 run over the next four minutes that pushed their lead to 20 and they were up 57-39 after three.
The Cougars struggled to score in the second half and were outscored 37-15 in the second half.
Misericordia will travel to New York to play CCNY, Sunday at 2.
