The Misericordia University volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-1 (21-25, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22) decision to Rutgers-Camden, Thursday night in the Anderson Center.

 Paige Shaughnessy had 14 kills and 13 digs to lead the Cougars while Michelle Sehested added 10 kills.  Nicole Tagerty had 34 assists and a team-high 19 digs.

 Coleby Charlier had eight kills and Megan Collins added seven kills and five blocks.

 After falling behind 5-1 in the opening the set, the Cougars battled back to within a point on an ace by Ariana Gagliardi and eventually pulled even, 8-8.

 Rutgers-Camden scored four straight points to break a 12-12 tie and eventually built a 22-17 lead.

 Shaughnessy had a kill from the left side and an ace and Sehested hit through two blockers on the left to get MU within 23-21, but R-C scored two straight to close the set.

 The teams battled back and forth throughout the second set before the Cougars took a 22-16 lead on Gagliardi's ace.  Rutgers-Camden rallied with seven straight points and went on to win, 25-23.

 MU trailed 20-15 in the third set, but got within a point, 21-20, when Tara Welliver ended a long rally with a kill from the left side.

 The Cougars scored three straight points and it tied it, 23-23, on a kill by Allison Butow.

 Down 24-23, Shaughnessy had a cross-court kill to tie and Charlier won it with a kill down the middle.

 Rutgers-Camden jumped to a 6-1 lead in the final set, but the Cougars cut it to 13-11 on Welliver's ace.

 Collins and Welliver combined for a block and a Rutgers-Camden error got MU within 24-22, but the Raptors held on for the win.

 Misericordia will host Penn State Berks and Centenary, Saturday.
