11/1/2016 9:37:00 PM

Box Score David Malaquias had two goals and an assist to lead the Misericordia University men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over DeSales in a MAC Freedom semifinal, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Tristan Snyder added a second-half goal as the Cougars improved to 12-5-2.  MU will host Eastern in the MAC Freedom title game, Saturday.

Malaquias headed home a corner from Levi Roberts to give MU a 1-0 lead at 32:03.

The score held until Snyder and Malaquias scored a minute apart late in the second half.

Malaquias flicked a ball over a defender and Russell Hines carried the ball deep before centering across the box where Snyder slid to finish inside the right post at 73:14.

Wright gathered a loose ball and laid a pass off to Malaquias who slotted the ball across the box for a 3-0 lead less than a minute later.

Patrick Hoffman made six saves, including three diving stops, to post his third straight shutout.

Misericordia held a 17-14 edge in shots, including 7-6 in shots on goal while both teams had 10 corners.

Dan Sulpizio mad three saves in goal for the Bulldogs.

DeSales had the first shot of the game off a throw in the opening minute, but Zach Reichard's was high.

Nearly 14 minutes into the game, George Stock played the ball over the top from near midfield, but Sulpizio came off his line to win the ball just in front of a charging Chris Edkins.

Edkins got a head on a corner kick at 23:05, but his attempt was cleared by the Bulldogs defense near the left post.

Alex Peek played a corner to Ian McArdle at 26:04 for DeSales, but Hoffman made diving save at the right post to stop the header.

Reichard made a run on a through ball, but Hoffman came off his line to make a sliding save at 29:26.

After Malaquias got the Cougars on the board, MU had an opportunity in the final minute of the first half.  Wright dribbled down the middle and ripped a shot from 15 yards out, but Sulpizio had position.

The Cougars committed a foul deep in their own end early in the first half, but a quick counter ended with Niko Amity firing a shot that was saved by Sulpizio near the right post.

Off a DeSales throw-in, the ball was knocked around the box before Ian Patmore got a shot off near the top of the box that forced Hoffman to make a diving stab to his right.
