Kenny, Cougars Pull Away From Summit in Laurel Line Semi's

Jason Kenny scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Misericordia University men's basketball team to an 88-60 win over Clarks Summit University in the opening round of the 25th Annual McCarthy Tire Laurel Line Tournament, Friday night at the Anderson Center.

MU will face William Paterson in the championship game, Saturday at 4:00.

Tre Fields added 17 points as 14 players scored the Cougars.  Noah Rivera added a game-high 12 rebounds for MU.

Kyron Jones led Summit with 14 points while Evan Dougoud had 13 and John McCloskey added 12.

Trailing 13-12 midway through the first half, Fields put Misericordia in front with a lay-in off an inbounds.

Kenny scored 10 straight points and Fields added a three-pointer as the Cougars took control, 27-13, with 6:40 left in the first half.

Following the inbounds play, Kenny drove the lane and then finished a fast break from Fields before draining a three-pointer from the top of the key.

Tony Harding saved a loose ball under the basketball and found Kenny in the left corner for a three-pointer and a 24-13 lead.  Fields ended the run with a three-pointer from the right win on another inbounds play.

Alec Rodway had a driving layup and then finished a fast break off a Jamie Egan steal at the opposite end for a 35-22 lead.

Kenny drained a three-pointer from the right corner on a feed from Fields and then returned the favor as Fields hit a three from the right wing for a 43-22 lead
at the end of the first half.
James Hawk's putback and dunk off a nice look from Griffin Sponaugle gave the Cougars a 47-26 lead early in the second half.
Stone McCreary came off the bench to drain a three-pointer from the top of the key to give MU it biggest lead of the night, 60-31, with 14:43 remaining.
