The Misericordia University men's basketball team remained unbeaten with a 90-85 overtime win at Lebanon Valley, Tuesday night.
Jason Kenny had 28 points and a career-high nine assists and
Griffin Sponaugle added 22 points for the Cougars.Â
Tre Fields had 17 points and
Tony Harding had a double-double with 13 points and 13 assists.
After leading throughout most of regulation, the Cougars needed a layup from Kenny with :04 to play to pull even, 76-76, and force overtime.
Kenny put MU in front 79-76 with a three-pointer to open the extra session, but LVC eventually rallied to take an 83-80 lead with 3:19 remaining.
Fields' layup got the Cougars within one and Kenny converted a three-point lead to give MU the lead for good, 85-83, with 2:34 to go.
Sponaugle nailed a three-pointer for an 88-83 lead with :40 left and Kenny clinched it with two free throws with :22 to play.
Trailing 7-5 three minutes into the game, MU made four straight layups to take a 13-6 lead and Harding's three-pointer gave the Cougars a 36-24 lead with a minute left in the first half.
A 12-4 run early in the second half gave the Cougars their biggest lead, 51-34, with 16:40 to go.
The Dutchmen battled back to take a 69-68 lead with 2:26 to go.
Down 83-81 with in OT, Fields answered with a layup and Kenny converted another three-point play to put the Cougars ahead for good, 85-83.
Sponaugle hit a three-pointer to make it 88-83 with :40 to play and Kenny added two free throws with :22 to go.
The Cougars are 4-0 and will host Swarthmore, Sunday at 4:30.
