The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped its home opener to SUNY-Geneseo, 69-59, Sunday afternoon in the Anderson Center.
Justine Seely led the Cougars with 20 points and added nine rebounds while
Rachel Carmody had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.Â
Shannon Croasdale added 11 points for MU.
The Cougars led 19-10 after one period, but were held with a field goal in the second quarter and trailed 28-25 at halftime.
A jumper by Carmody and a Seely layup pulled the Cougars within a point, 32-31, midway through the third quarter.
Croasdale hit a short jumper to give the Cougars a 35-34 lead with 4:21 to play, but Geneseo closed the period on a 16-3 run to take a 50-38 lead heading to the fourth quarter.
Liz Waleski hit back-to-back three-pointers to get the Cougars with seven in the final minute.
MU, 3-3, will host Utica, Saturday.
