Albright Pulls Away in Third Quarter for 43-14 Win

Albright scored 14 unanswered points in an 11-minute span in the second and third quarters to pull away from Misericordia University for a 43-14 victory, Saturday afternoon.

Misericordia scored with 5:15 left in the second quarter to pull within 22-14, but the Lions answered with a touchdown with a minute remaining and scored twice more in the third quarter.

Jeff Krisiak threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns and added 85 yards rushing on 16 carries.

Colton Pyne had six catches for 94 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Kurtz added a touchdown grab.  Sam Gillison had five receptions for 46 yards.

Noah Bard led the MU defense with nine tackles.  Garrett Murray had seven stops and Jordan Aquino and Rob Hart both had six.

Albright took the opening kick-off and went 64 yards in 16 plays, including a fourth-and-two conversion, to take a 7-0 lead with 6:39 left in the first quarter.

Krisiak had two big pass plays as the Cougars responded with a 73-yard scoring drive.

Robin Custodio ran for seven yards on first down and Gillison had a four-yard catch for a first down at the MU 38.

Facing 3-and-13, Krisiak connected with Pyne for 35 yards to the Albright 30.  On the next play, Kurtz had a 30-yard catch for a touchdown.  The PAT failed and the Cougars trailed 7-6 with 5:28 remaining in the first period.

Albright took the ensuing kick and went 70 yards in 10 plays to take a 14-6 lead with less than a minute to play in the first.

The Lions blocked an MU on the next possession and went 37 yards for a score and a 22-6 lead early in the second quarter.

On the next drive, Krisiak picked up 25 yards on three carries and then found Gillison for 28 yards and a first down at the Albright 28.  The drive stalled there, however, and Albright took over on downs.

Tom Anderson blocked an Albright punt on the ensuing drive and the Cougars took over at midfield.

Krisiak found Custodio for 10 yards for a first down at the Albright 35 and then hit Pyne for 26 yards to 10.  After a two-yard run, Krisiak hit Pyne for a seven yard TD.  Kurtz had a two-yard reception for the two-point conversion to get MU within 22-14 with 5:15 left in the first half.

Albright went 55 yards in 11 plays to up 29-14 with :59 remaining before halftime.

The Lions scored twice in the third quarter to go up, 43-14, with 5:27 to go in the quarter.

The Cougars retained possession when they recovered a fumble on a punt return at their own 44.

Gillison had two catches to move the Cougars to the Albright seven, but the Lions ended the threat with an interception at the two early in the fourth quarter.
