Tre Fields had a double-double while leading five players in double figures as the Misericordia University men's basketball team defeated St. Joseph's (L.I.), 86-56, Thursday night.
Fields had game-highs with 15 points and 10 rebounds while
Griffin Sponaugle added 14 points.Â
Jason Kenny had 13 points and
Tony Harding and
Noah Rivera added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Cougars trailed 4-3 early, but went on a 17-0 run to take a 20-4 lead less than seven minutes into the game.
Sponaugle hit back-to-back three-pointers to start the run and ended it with a pair of free throws while Kenny added five points during the spurt.
MU stretched the lead to 38-11 with 3:41 left in the first half.
Fields scored three straight baskets for the Cougars, including a three-pointer, to key the run.
St. Joe's cut the lead to 14 points midway through the second half, but Fields and Sponaugle combined for 11 straight points as the Cougars rebuilt their lead to 69-42 with 9:47 remaining.Â
Misericordia, 7-1, will host Valley Forge, Saturday afternoon.
