The Misericordia University baseball team closed its Puerto Rico with a convincing 18-1 win over SUNY-Canton, Saturday morning.

Cory Vogeli threw five shutout innings to earn the win while combining with four relievers on a three-hitter.

Chad Bell,
Alec Iurato,
Steve Weisensee and
Al Reda all had two hits to pace a 16-hit attack.

Iurato and
Mike Comerford both had doubles and
Kyle Lindsay hit a two-run homer and scored three runs.
Â
Comerford and Reda had three RBI while
Chris Boroch, Lindsay, Bell and
D.J. Navoczynski drove in two runs each.

Misericordia scored nine runs in the top of the first and built an 18-0 lead before allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth.

Boroch and Lindsay drew back-to-back walks to open the game and Iurato singled to right to load the bases. Comerford was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Navoczynski singled to center to make it 3-0.

Two outs later,
Jeremy DeCotiis walked and
Miles Westrich reached on an error to re-load the bases. Reda singled up the middle to drive in a run and Boroch plated two more with a single to right.

Lindsay closed out the rally with a two-run homer to left.

The Cougars loaded the bases in the second on two hit by pitches and a walk before Reda's single to left center made it 11-0.

Lindsay reached via hit by pitch to lead off the third and Iurato and Comerford hit back-to-back doubles to put MU up 13-0.

Comerford eventually scored on an error for a 14-0 lead.

The Cougars stretched the lead to 16-0 in the sixth on an error and Weisensee's RBI-infield single.

Bell had a two-run single in the ninth to make it 18-0.

Dillon Del Rosso,
Dan Zurowski and
Brett Davis all pitched a scoreless inning of relief while
Jim Tunison allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth.

MU is 6-4 and will visit Wesley, Tuesday.
