The Misericordia University men's lacrosse team got a solid defensive effort in a 10-9 win at Lycoming, Saturday.

Josh Shanker made nine saves in goal and the Cougars overcame 10 penalties, including causing a turnover in a man-down scenario in the final seconds of the game.

Pat Kellish and
Chris Fleming both had three goals and an assist to pace the attack. Kellish became just the 11
th player in school history to go over 100 career points.

Lane Kocovsky added two goals and an assist and
Michael Iglio and Phil Fraher both had a goal and an assist.

John Tierney had four caused turnovers and three groundballs and Pat Newins had three caused turnovers and five groundballs.Â
Ryan Cannon had a team-high six groundballs.

Lycoming took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game, but the Cougars answered with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead after the first quarter.

The Warriors scored to open the second period, but Kellish scored a goal and fed Fleming for another for a 6-2 lead midway through the quarter.

Lane Kocovsky scored late in the second period and the Cougars led 6-4 at halftime.

Fleming scored twice in the third period to give MU an 8-5 lead with 8:14 to go.

Lycoming pulled within 9-8 late in the fourth quarter, but Kellish responded with an unassisted goal for a 10-8 lead with 2:51 remaining.

The Warriors scored with 2:06 left, but the Kellish scooped up a groundball on the Lyco's final possession.

MU improved to 4-1 and will travel to Rosemont, Wednesday.
