The Misericordia baseball team swept FDU-Florham, 9-3 and 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Tambur Field.

Alec Iurato had two hits and two RBI and Jeremy DeCotiis had two hits.  Mike Comerford added a two-run double.

Cory Vogeli struck out eight over five innings to earn the win while Elliot Forde and Mike Blazaskie both tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Cougars answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.  Kyle Lindsay drew a one-out walk and moved to third on Kenny Jarema's double inside the third base bag.  Iurato belted a two-run double to the left field wall and Comerford followed with an RBI-double to left center to make it 3-1.

Iurato led off the third inning with a single to right and moved to third on a passed ball and deep fly ball before eventually scoring on a squeeze bunt.  The Cougars added two more runs on a sac fly and an error to go ahead 7-2 after three innings.

Reda led off the sixth inning with a single to center and scored on Lindsay's double to right.  Miles Westrich singled to center to make it 9-3.

Zach Mason allowed two hits in six innings to get the win in game two. Forde came in and earned his second save of the year.

D.J Navoczynski and Jarema both went 1-2 with a RBI and a walk while Lindsay was 1-3 with a run scored.

The Cougars again got on the board in the first inning. Boroch was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch and got to third on a fly out to right by Lindsay. Jarema singled up the middle to plate Boroch.

MU would build on their lead in the third. Reda singled to center, Boroch was hit by another pitch and then Lindsay singled to left to load the bases. All the runners advanced on a wild pitch before Jarema grounded out to the pitcher. The FDU first basemen threw to second which allowed Boroch to cross the plate and make it 3-0. A Navoczynski single scored Lindsay which made it 4-0 MU through three.

FDU got one back in the fourth, but that was their lone run of the game.

The win lifts MU to 17-7 and 8-2 in the MAC Freedom.

The Cougars will host Scranton, Wednesday at 4:00.
