The Misericordia University baseball team swept a doubleheader at Delaware Valley, Saturday, 24-2, 4-0.
The Cougars used a 20-hit attack to take the opener and rode the left arm of
Zach Mason to win the nightcap.
In the opener,
Brian Eshleman hit a grand slam and
Jeremy DeCotiis had three hits and two RBI.Â
D.J. Navoczynski and
Miles Westrich both had two hits and three RBI and
Chris Boroch had two hits and scored three runs.
Kyle Lindsay scored twice and drove in two runs while
Kenny Jarema and
Scott Carton both had two RBI.
Cory Vogeli struck out six over five innings to improve to 5-0.
In the nightcap, Mason struck out seven in the complete game victory.Â
Mike Comerford had three hits and
Jeremy DeCotiis had two hits and two RBI. Jarema and
Conor Smith both added two hits.
Boroch led off the opener with a double and Navoczynski and DeCotiis both had RBI-singles and Westrich had a two-run double as part of a five-run first inning.
Lindsay's two-run double highlighted a five-run fifth inning as MU took a 14-1 lead.
Parker Abate,
Cole Bixler, Santo Giunta,
Connor Rittenhouse,
Chad Bell and Carton all drove in runs in the seventh inning before Eshleman capped the scoring with a grand slam.
In game two, Comerford led off the second inning with a bunt single and eventually scored on Westrich's squeeze bunt.
MU tacked on three more runs in the third inning on a single by
D.J. Navoczynski and a two-run single by DeCotiis.
Misericordia is 19-8 and 10-3 in the MAC Freedom and will play a doubleheader at Manhattanville, Sunday.
