MU Baseball Wins on Jarema Walk Off Against Gwynedd Mercy

The Misericordia baseball team won in walk-off fashion, 4-3, against Gwynedd Mercy, Tuesday afternoon at Tambur Field. Kenny Jarema singled up the middle to score the winning run.

Mike Comerford was 2-4 with a triple and two runs scored while Jarema was 2-4 with the game-winning RBI. Kyle Lindsay was 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Steve Pabon picked up the win in relief.

Tim Burek started for Misericordia; he held the Griffins to two hits over five innings.

The Cougars got going early, scoring one run in the first and second innings.

In the first, Lindsay singled through the left side, Jarema singled to left and both of them advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. An Alec Iurato groundout to short scored Lindsay.

In the second, Mike Comerford smacked a triple to right center and scored on a groundout to second by Jeremy DeCotiis.

Gwynedd Mercy got on the board in the top of the sixth, but the Cougars scored a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Comerford singled to center, DeCotiis reached on an error and Comerford advanced to third on a fly out to center out by Miles Westrich. An Al Reda single to right plated Comerford.

The Griffins scored again in the seventh and then tied things up in the top of the ninth, setting the stage for the MU walk off.

Reda was hit by a pitch; Parker Abate came in to pinch-run for him and went first to third on a Chris Boroch single to center. Gwynedd Mercy intentionally walked Lindsay before Jarema singled home Abate to win the game.

The win moves MU to 21-9 and they will host Stevens, Wednesday at 4:00.
