The Misericordia University baseball team opened a three-game series with King's with a 16-4 win, Friday at Lipo Field.
D.J. Navoczynski had a grand slam and five RBI and
Jeremy DeCotiis had four hits and two RBI.Â
Ryan Dorosh struck out seven over five innings to earn his fifth win of the season with relief help from
Brett Davis,
Kyle Rogalski and
Drake Koch.
Kyle Lindsay had three hits and scored three runs and
Kenny Jarema had two hits and three runs scored.
Miles Westrich had two hits and two RBI and
Mike Comerford had three RBI.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when Lindsay reached on an infield single and came around on
Alec Iurato's double to left center. Iurato advanced on a failed pick-off attempt and scored on Navoczynski's infield single.
Lindsay doubled and scored on Jarema's single to make it 3-1 in the third and the Cougars added an unearned run in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
Comerford hit a bases-loaded double in the fifth and scored on a single by DeCotiis. Westrich doubled to left center to put MU ahead, 9-1.
Navoczynski blasted a grand slam in the seventh and Westrich added a sacrifice fly as the Cougars went up 16-4.
Misericordia improved to 23-9 overall and 12-4 in the MAC Freedom and will host King's in a doubleheader, Saturday at noon at Tambur Field.
